When buying an underwater scooter, you need to keep in mind what you are planning on using the underwater scooter for. Do you want a high tech underwater sea scooter for snorkeling and diving in the ocean, or are you looking for an underwater scooter that is made for simple pool usage by yourself and your kids.

Underwater Scooter: The Top Sea scooter
I’m going to start off by recommending the top sea scooters out on the market. If you are looking for a much simpler, underwater scooter for pool usage, then skip down to the bottom of this page, or look at the ones in the table above. My favorite sea underwater scooter is the Tusa Sav-7 Underwater scooter. This underwater scooter is high quality scuba diving equipment that provides everything that any serious diver needs at the fraction of the price of some of the more advanced underwater sea scooters such as the Apollo SVX Elite Diver Propulsion DPV Scooter. The cost of the Tusa Sav-7 Underwater scooter is about 1/5 of the price of the Apollo SVX Elite Diver Propulsion DPV underwater Scooter, but has similar features. What makes the Apollo SVX Elite Diver Propulsion DPV Scooter so expensive is that it last approximately 220 minutes. What I recommend doing to save you some serious money, is to buy the much cheaper Tusa Sav-7 Underwater scooter, and then just buy another battery. Doing this will save you thousands of dollars. Now, by all means, if you want to be able to go on a 4 hour adventure without having to stop to replace a battery, then buy the Apollo SVX Elite Diver Propulsion DPV underwater Scooter. I just think it is a much better investment to buy the much cheaper Tusa Sav-7 diver propulsion vehicle with an extra battery or two.
Now, let me explain what I love about the Tusa Sav-7 underwater scooter. This scooter is able to carry up to three people at a time without the performance being lowered. The sea scooter will move just as well with one person, as it will with three since it is such a high quality piece of diving equipment.
The absolute best part about the Tusa Sav-7 underwater scooter is that it is designed to be used hands free! This is one of the very few underwater scooters on the market that are designed this way. You simply keep the scooter between your legs. This may seem extremely awkward, but it actually feels natural once you do it. This allows you to feel like you are a fish of some kind while you are snorkeling or scuba diving; seriously, it’s a cool feeling. These free hands allow you to carry a camera so you can capture anything unique that you see. If you are interested in spear fishing, then this is the underwater scooter for you as the free hands allow you catch fish.
If the Tusa Sav-7 underwater scooter is still a little out of your price range, then the underwater scooter that I would recommend is the Sea Doo Explorer X Sea-Doo Sea Scooter. This underwater scooter will get the job done for deep sea diving. It is able to reach speeds of 3.3 miles per hour as well as go down 130 feet. Yes, this underwater scooter is cheaper than the ones above, but it is not cheaply made. It is still an extremely high quality machine. So, if the ones above are out of your price range, then you should highly consider looking into this one. If you don’t believe me, then read the reviews of other people here.
The top Pool water scooter
While the ones I mentioned above are good scuba diving gear, the best and most popular underwater scooter for pool usage is the Sea Doo Dolphin Sea Scooter. This underwater scooter is great for usage in pools and lakes. It can go about 15 feet deep and reach speeds up to two miles per hour. The most impressive feature of this underwater scooter is that it lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes per charge. This underwater scooter only ways about 12 pounds, but surprisingly and impressively, it can still pull around adults, albeit, a little slower.
As much as I love the Sea Doo Dolphin Sea scooter, I have an equal amount of negative feelings for the Wham-O Pool Squid Underwater Pool Jet Scooter. This terribly constructed scooter only lasts 20-30 minutes per charge. Come on man! Kids these days don’t spend enough time outside, so don’t give them another reason to come inside when their underwater scooter only lasts about 20 or 30 minutes. Not only does it not last very long, but this underwater scooter also has a difficult time going under water. It tends to float too much which is extremely frustrating. So, avoid this underwater scooter, and look into buying the Sea Doo Dolphin Sea scooter.
So far I have recommended my favorite sea underwater scooters, and my favorite pool underwater scooters. Well, what if you are looking for one that can do both? If you are looking for one that would be good for both, then I recommend looking into the Sea Doo GTI Sea Scooter. It is the perfect hybrid for somebody that plans on using it in the pool a lot with the occasional trip out in the ocean.
The Sea Doo GTI underwater scooter can reach speeds up to 2.5 miles per hour and go reach depths of up to 100 feet. Weighing in at just 18 pounds, it can be used by people of all of sizes. The Sea Doo GTI underwater scooter provides tremendous value for its reasonable price. It is extremely durable and can take a beating without falling apart.
Underwater Scooter Final Overview
So to sum things up so far, I have recommended the Tusa Sav-7 underwater scooter as my favorite sea scooter, and the Sea Doo Dolphin Sea Scooter as my favorite for using in less demanding waters such as pools and lakes. I then recommend the Sea Doo GTI underwater scooter as my favorite hybrid type of underwater scooter for pool usage with the occasional ocean adventure. Use what I have written and the chart above to help you figure out which underwater scooter is right for you.
